Financial emergencies

If acute financial need is the only factor hampering good study progress, you can approach one of the student counsellors  for advice. The student counsellor can analyse the situation and in consultation with the student identify the most appropriate solution. Mr. Len Buis is a student counsellor who can advise on problems which foreign students may encounter in Leiden. If he is not available, you can reach his colleagues Mr. Marcel Melchers or Ms. Romke Biagioni at Plexus.

The student counsellors have contacts with a number of private funds that are in some instances prepared to assist a student in acute financial need. They also have a number of emergency funds from which they can provide temporary loans. If you are a student whose performance is extremely good, it may be possible to obtain support from the curators' funds.
