Degrees, programme duration, electives and minors
When you complete your bachelor’s programme at Leiden University, you will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.
All bachelor’s programmes have a statutory duration of three years.
As a bachelor’s student at Leiden University, you can partly determine the content of your own programme. Depending on your department, you will have 15 to 30 study credits which you can use for:
an internship in the Netherlands or abroad
A minor is a cohesive package of courses worth up to 30 credits and particularly suited to third-year students. Leiden University currently offers 49 minors. Most of these are open to all students, but some courses at the Faculty of Science have additional admission criteria.
